Before you begin

Before going through this process, you will need to take note of your register's Android version and hardware revision. If you are unsure, read the article Identifying Android version and hardware revision. If you do not have Android version 7.0 or higher, this cannot be done.

Setting up

  1. Exit the register app and go to your register's home screen. Swipe up near the bottom to reveal the apps list.
  2. Open up Google Chrome. On some registers, this may be called Lightning and have a different icon.
  3. Once you have opened your browser, navigate to apps.runzanational.com.

  4. Look for 42Gears Enterprise Agent. Tap on the appropriate version for the hardware revision you noted earlier.

  5. If you see a message saying Chrome needs storage access to download files, click Continue, then click Allow. Otherwise, continue to the next step.

  6. You will see a message saying This type of file can harm your deviceThe app you are downloading is safe, so we can ignore this and click OK.

  7. Wait for the app to download, then click Open.

  8. You will see a message asking if you want to install the application. Click Install.

  9. Wait for the app to install. When it is done, click Done.

  10. Once you are back at the Runza apps page, repeat the previous steps 4-9 with 42Gears SureMDM (Mobile Device Management) to install the app.

  11. Once you have both apps installed, return to the apps list of the register as you did in step 1.

  12. In the list of apps, select SureMDM Agent.

  13. The SureMDM Agent app will open. Tap Get Started.

  14. Under Device Admin Enrollment, select Continue.

  15. When asked for the SureMDM Account ID, enter 062100101 and tap Next.

  16. For the server path, enter runza.suremdm.io . Tap Next, then tap Continue.

  17. You will be asked to configure the device name. Tap the button that says Set Device Name Manually, then enter an appropriate device name (e.g. "[store] Front 1" or "[store] DT 2"). Finally, tap Register.

  18. You will be returned to the main screen of the SureMDM app. It will initially say Offline. It will take a short amount of time (10-20 seconds) until it changes to Online.

  19. Once the app goes online, you are ready to go. From here you can exit the app and return to the register app.
